Gilbert was our guide and was nothing short of incredible. He specifically made my father in law more comfortable while trekking through some of the more challenging parts and it would not have been possible to finish without him. We can’t thank him and all our porters (special shout out to Rambo!) enough for everything they did.
View full reviewHad a great time with everyone in my group. The guides were very knowledgeable about the local culture and were very eager to share it with us while answering any questions we had. The food was amazing the while trip, the chef was outstanding. The porters we had with us were very kind and professional while making the life very easy for us. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering the inca trail.

View full reviewReview of the 5-Day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu + Vistadome Train The Salkantay Trek was undoubtedly an impressive adventure, but what truly made this tour extraordinary was the wonderful group of participants and the outstanding team of guides, cooks, and porters. First, I’d like to commend all three guides, who did an outstanding job throughout the tour. On the third day, our group was split up, and we were lucky enough to be accompanied by David. David was simply extraordinary and exceeded our expectations in every way. With his warm personality, sense of humor, and infectious enthusiasm, he made every single day special. He was not just a guide, but a companion, motivator, and friend all at once. With his fascinating stories and the passion with which he spoke about Peru, he truly immersed us in the country’s culture and traditions. David didn’t just lead this tour—he turned it into an unforgettable experience that will stay with us forever. An equally big compliment goes to the cooks. What they accomplished day after day under the demanding conditions along the trek was simply incredible. The quality, variety, and presentation of the meals were at a level that many restaurants can barely match. After hours of hiking, we were surprised every time with fantastic food, and we kept wondering how such dishes were even possible in the middle of the mountains. We were also particularly impressed by the many thoughtful details that went far beyond what we expected. Hot water bottles for the cold nights, a cozy campfire under the starry sky, and marshmallows to roast created unforgettable moments and showed just how much dedication the team puts into caring for its guests. I also have the utmost respect for the porters. Their daily efforts are almost impossible to put into words. They perform grueling physical labor under challenging conditions and yet always ensure that everything runs smoothly. Without their dedication, a tour like this would not be possible. Their hard work, professionalism, and endurance deserve the highest praise. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for this unique experience. For me, the Salkantay Trek was not just a hike, but an adventure full of special encounters, impressive experiences, and unforgettable memories. I can wholeheartedly recommend this tour.

View full reviewAlthough I was too sick with altitude sickness to do the 3 day Lares trek, the company organised I got to meet up on the 3rd day evening meal with the rest of my group. From then on I had a fantastic experience and the visit to Machu Picchu the next morning was magical including the hike up the nearby peak on a beautiful clear day. The tour was very well organised and the quality of food and the hotel was excellent. Our guide Gilbert was excellent always looking after the whole group and very knowledgeable about the history and culture etc. The quality of transport was also excellent. I highly recommend this company to do any guided tours.

We had this dream of hiking the Inca Trail for about 25 years and Trexperience made this an incredible and wonderful experience. The booking process and subsequent administrative service where sometimes rocky and not totally satisfactory but at the end everything worked out perfectly. The tour itself was incredibly well organized and simply fantastic, starting with the tour guides which passed on their incredible knowledge and took care of all of us extremely well to the porters who carried such an huge amount of weight for us. Trexperience employs people from the local region and also gives female guides and porters a chance which clearly differentiates the company from others. The track itself included a few tougher parts and I'll definitely avoid any unnecessary staircases over the next few days but overall it was fantastic with a breathtaking scenery, lots of wildlife - we even spotted several colibris and the highlight were two bears in the distance - and an ever-changing vegetation with wild orchids and many other beautiful flowers. When we finally arrived at the Sun Gate and got our first view of Machu Picchu we were completely overwhelmed by its beauty. We got to MP very early and were amongst the very first few visitors that day so could take some amazing pictures and enjoy the calm beauty of this majestic place. The food we received at breakfast, lunch and dinner was always delicious and freshly cooked. When we arrived at our campsites in the afternoon everything was already set up. The tents were comfortably big, clean and well cared for. All in all we can only recommend Trexperience if you're looking for a tour operator. A big thanks to them for making this happen and such a wonderful experience. A recommendation: Add Huayna Picchu to your trip. The climb up there is worth every additional step and you get the chance to see those ruins from a different perspective. A final word of caution: Trexperience (like every other Inka Trail tour operator) isn't completely transparent about the costs of the trip as at the end of the journey you are expected (and pressured) to pay a tip to the porters of 80-100 Peruvian Soles. We were a group of 17 hikers with about 25 porters thus our family of 4 was told we had to pay for broadly 7 porters. The corresponding sum for us thus amounted of 560-700 Soles. Further you are expected to tip the cook even more and the guides again even more. The total amount of expected tipping is significant and increases the total cost of the trip. Recommendation: Don't let yourself be pressured and only give what you want/can while reminding Trexperience that it's their responsibility to fairly pay their employees, not ours.
